What can I say about Brittany and Nick…? Besides being my first real, consistent, most loyal clients, Brittany and Nick have turned out to be so much more for me. From the minute we met, they have treated me like family, and over the course of the nine months or so that we’ve been working together, they have become great friends of mine. They have become so close to my heart, I cannot express in words how grateful I have been for them, and their love has been immeasurably insipiring to me. They love each other like no one I’ve ever seen before. They are so, so good for each other, and I wish them all the happiness in the world.
Many thanks also to both families and to all of Brittany and Nick’s friends, who all treated me like family and made me feel welcome and at home in Arizona. There is so much love among these people, it is no wonder this wedding turned out so touching and beautiful. Picking favorites to share was nearly impossible, but I think these top the list for me. I’m going to go ahead and say expect more soon, there are just way too many good ones.
The wedding ceremony and reception were at the lovely Stonebridge Manor, and the awesomely fun dinner was catered by Macaroni Grill!

I have SO many favorites from this wedding, but I think this is my absolute favorite of the day: Father of the Bride and the Groom. Sorry, Brit!

“If you like it then you shoulda put a ring on it. Whoa-oh-oh, oh-oh-oooooh-oh-oh-oh-oh. ”

I loved this album SO much, there will probably be more coming, so stay tuned! Also be on the lookout for blog posts of an awesome model shoot with my best friend, some fun summery shots, and senior and 2-month-old photos this weekend!
I have been a bad, bad blogger. This post is strictly to apologize for being so absent, to reassure you that I am, in fact, still living, and to promise some more of Alexi’s headshots, more of Stephanie and Jordan’s engagement photos, and more photos in general over the next week or so.
Thanks for your patience. Much appreciation and love to all.

Are there stones of water on the moon?
Are there waters of gold?
What color is autumn?
Do the days run into one another
until like a shock of hair
they all unravel? How much falls
–paper, wine, hands, dead bodies–
from the earth on that far place?
Is it there that the drowned live?

So I’ve been doing a TON of cleaning tonight (which isn’t that unusual for me, but I’ve really been going above and beyond), and I stumbled upon some pictures of me and some of my mom, and OH MY GOD. We have always known that we are very twin-like in appearance, but seriously–take a look at this. The photos of me are from 4-5 years ago when I was in high school, and the photos of my mom are, clearly, from the 70s when she was in her early 20s. We even dressed alike! Haha!

So this is why my grandfather, without fail, calls me by my mother’s name every single time he addresses me. I mean, fortunately, this also means that if anyone were to decide (for some silly, deranged reason) to try to convince us that we don’t look alike, we would have undeniable proof that said crazy person is so very wrong.
What. A. Day. Stephanie and Jordan are absolutely terrific. When we met for our consultation, I was excited right away for their engagement shoot. They have a playful, optimistic, totally genuine air about their relationship that is magnetic, appealing, electric even. Jordan is SO FUNNY all three of us were laughing constantly throughout the shoot. The depth and strength of their love is so apparent, even in mundane chit-chat. Not convinced? Let me tell you about our day today:
The afternoon started early and frustratingly for Jordan. He left home in the suburbs an hour earlier than he thought was necessary, just to be absolutely sure he wouldn’t be late to pick up Steph. Two hours later, we all meet up an half an hour late–there had been TWO accidents on their way to get me. It took us several detours and a good twenty minutes to find a parking space. We had been prepared for a little rain, a little chill. What we forgot is that when the Chicago weather service says ‘rain’ it actually means peanut-sized hail and gale-force winds. After our brief stint in the park, and once we’d all sufficiently frozen, we took back to the road to find a neat place for coffee, ice cream, or whatever–just something fun, laid-back, and inside. We were intrigued by Molly’s Cupcakes, so decided to take our break up in there. Again, we were defeated by parking, so we decided to park in the lot for Einstein’s Bagels, which was closed. Now–if you’ve ever paid attention to me before, dear readers–pay attention now. The lot was clearly labeled with one of those ‘Unauthorized vehicles will be towed’ signs businesses like to throw up to scare non-customers out of parking. Feeling confident and nonplussed by the sign, we agreed that leaving the car for twenty minutes while we had coffee was safe. To our ultimate dismay, we returned to the lot just under twenty minutes later, and discovered the car had, in fact, been towed. A word of warning for you: if you are anything like Jordan and me and tend not to be dissuaded by those silly tow warning signs…believe it. They are in no mood.
Most couples would take this opportunity to thrash one another. Particularly when Stephanie voiced her concerns before we left the car, and Jordan assured her it was simply NOT going to happen. However, after only a few minutes of mild frustration, Stephanie and Jordan were laughing about it in the cab on the way to the towing lot. Stephanie had an unbeatable attitude of “It’s no big deal. It happens. It could have been so much worse, and now we have a story to tell.” They even requested a photo under the sign for posterity. And they even still wanted to kiss! How fantastic are they?! Stephanie and Jordan–thank you for being such awesome sports. I can’t wait to see you guys again soon. Witness the love in these few sneak peek photos from our session today. And enjoy.
P.S. From henceforth, I shall be famous for my acute sense of which day is going to have the most atrocious weather possible and choosing that day for engagement shoots (see Brittany and Nick’s snowy engagement shoot a few entries back).

Well. What can I say about Tiffany and Bryan…? Tiffany was one of my dance teachers growing up. She has always had a special place in my heart as someone who inspired me in so many ways, yet still related to me on a much more personal level than student-teacher. She is one of those people with that annoying (and by annoying I mean totally enviable and amazing) ability of always managing to be encouraging and smiley, even in less than desirable circumstances. When I found out she was pregnant, I was so happy for her, knowing right away what a fabulous and fun mother she will make. When she asked me about taking her maternity photos, I was so honored! and humbled! and super-duper excited!!! Of course, as I suspected, she was just about the most beautiful, glowy, laid-back, creative model ever, and we had a great time catching up since I went away to college, and it was awesome getting to know Bryan too, who I never really had the pleasure of spending time with when we were younger. That said, these are some of the many wonderful photos from their session–most of these Tiffany picked for her album, some of them I am just particularly fond of. Either way, I hope you all enjoy these as much as we have.

This one was our attempt at recreating a celebrity maternity shoot Tiffany found in a magazine (Sharon Stone, maybe?), and she added her own personal touch with that sweet little daffodil.

She ordered this one HUGE for the baby’s room

Welcome back! As you have probably noticed by this point, I’ve quite redone the blog/site “look.” I’ve kept the design, but gone with a color scheme more vividly inspired by nature. Actually, inspired by a Pottery Barn catalogue, but the colors are all nature-y and delicious.
This post is mostly to let you know I am still alive over spring break, and also to remind you to expect images from Tiffany’s maternity shoot in the next few days. She’s quite stunning, if I do say so myself!
Hope you’re doing well! Leave a note to let me know what you think about the new colors.
Thanks! Love!
Home sweet home! Spent all day hanging out with my parents and my sweet, sweet niece, Hannah. Maternity shoot with my old dance teacher tomorrow! I’m so excited, she has to be the prettiest pregnant woman ever, not to mention I haven’t seen her in SO LONG! Anyway, here’s my favorite of a bunch of good ones I took of the Pants today. Look forward to maternity photos sometime later this week.

[ Thanks, Mags

This large gap in entries certainly constitutes the most literal “failblog” possible. Apologies. To be fair, I have been insanely busy with school and work, getting ready to go home, etc. That said, thought I’d share a few moody black and white shots I took in the magic light when it snowed the other day. Just because.
